I dreamt last night.
It was something that I did not expect, but honestly, did wait for it... for months. This dream is so bizarre that I guess no one will want to have this kind of dream. My dad and my mom had dreams like this, and it all really disturbed me. I mean, what will you do if you are locked in a dream, fighting with an eerie demon? Growing up as a child of a preacher, I have witnessed supernatural stuffs and I have heard unusual stories. Also, I heard my parents telling their frightful stories about how they experienced the presence of a demon.According to my mom, she experienced seeing a shadow of a man's head laughing and moving with no one alive near it. Also, the most freaky experience that she had was when she encountered a devil in a dream. She said that the devil was not hideous, in fact, it was indescribably handsome wearing a corporate attire - so presentably good-looking, still she knew he was satan. The devil was smirking sarcastically, and at first, my mom got worried. It was walking around her, but never towards her. She realized that the reason why the devil was just walking around her was because it could not go near her. It could not do something - it was powerless. When she woke up, she realized that the reason why the devil was powerless was because she already surrendered her life to the most powerful God. She is secured. “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
Accordingly, my dad, a preacher, experienced frightful happenings. He has encountered an exorcism and, by the powerful name of Jesus Christ, helped the girl from the work of the demons. Also, he was threatened by an evil spirit, but my father was never moved. Moreover, he has challenged a/the demons to fight him because he knows, with all his heart, that he is more than conquerors by being a servant of the Heavenly Father. Then, he has experienced being strangled by a demon while sleeping, but graciously, the Lord helped him. His life is a compilation of God's work, particularly in fighting the enemy.
As a little girl, I always said to myself that I could never handle such things - like I could not imagine facing a loathesome demon. It is frightening. But as I grew up physically and spiritually, I realized that it is not a bad thing. As a matter of fact, it is an ace in the hole. It is a great way to show my faith and how much I believe the Lord's promise in Luke 10:19. After many years, it reoccurred in my mind (probably, it is because of watching too much horror film). so I asked the Lord if I am ready for it, and if my faith is now bigger to handle such things.
Thus, excuse me when I say this but... I am delighted for my dream last night! I know it sounds weird to be happy for a dream that is supposedly scary; however, I cannot contain my happiness knowing that I successfully made it. Right when I woke up, I was not even catching my breathe or feeling scared, but I was in my right mind saying, "Ma, nakipaglaban ako sa demonyo." (Mom, I fought with a devil.) As much as I can remember, the story went like this:
I was in my old school with a friend - I forgot who she is but I am sure she is close with me - and we were just wandering around. The ambiance was fine - not so stale, and not so vibrant. We dropped by at the PL Building (If you had been to a college week of SMCL, I guess, you'd know what I am talking about) and the ambiance gradually changed when we reached the room near the female washroom. The feeling became heavy and suddenly, a girl (as far as I can remember) came and tried to hurt me and my friend. I knew in that point that she's a devil. The devil was trying to hurt my friend, that was why I blocked it and shouted, "run!' My friend disappeared and I found myself fighting the devil. We were holding each other and strangling each other, but it surprised me that I never felt any pain. In fact, I could tell that the devil was the one who was suffering. The devil got a big stamp and marked me on the left side of my body and there I felt a great pain... The mark says, "Ecclesiastes 4". And my mom woke me up.
The dream is a blessing for me, if you'll ask me. I told my dad about it and he said that I am blessed and appointed. He added that if someone dreams about fighting with a demon and does not struggle, it means that the person is called by the Lord for a greater purpose. The Lord is great, and He's been guiding me since I was a kid - since I was that little girl who thought that this kind of things is unfavourable. But now, the fact that the devil has no hold on me because I admitted and accepted that I am a child of God, I believe it deserves a celebration.
PS: I wrote an another article about the Ecclesiastes 4, for I believe that God wanted me to know something, so check it out by clicking the bible passage link above.
