Polla Shares: Mary, The Mother Of Jesus

disclaimer: this painting is not mine
When I was just a kid, I was fond of researching and finding answers to a lot of questions. In fact, I made my first blog on friendster (if you still can remember that website, I won't blame you if you don't) and there are bunch of articles in that blog about God, End of the world, love, etc. It is unfortunate that they are all gone now. Afterwards, I decided to make another blog which is named as "threebears.i.ph" with the help of my friend Emjozar. The blog was shut down, so my friend transferred all of my literary pieces in http://pgperez.blogspot.com; and one of my articles in that blog was a short clarification about Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. I wrote this article when I was in Junior High School, and published it on my old blog on September 22, 2011.

1 John 1:8-10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceiving ourselves and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all the unrighteousness. If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make Him a liar and His word isn’t in us.”
Getting to the point, Mary is not a God - she is just an instrument that God used to bring Jesus Christ into this world to be a mortal (Which means that Jesus isn’t a man, he became a man), but we must respect her - respect, not worship. She was just a sinner/imperfect person like you; she needs a Savior too. How come a God needs a Savior? Think about it. If you are not yet satisfied ‘bout what I say, these are some stuffs that I’ve researched:
  • She doesn’t have an Immaculate Conception.
How could she conceived without a sin if she needs a redemption herself? (Luke 1:47)

Many respected people had a vision ‘bout Mary’s Immaculate Conception. It includes Bridget of Sweden; however, many popes and nuns had a vision too about it being false, for instance, the Great Italian Mystics, Catherine of Siena. The Roman Catholic Church cited two verses to justify that this dogma is true: Genesis 3:15 and Luke 1:12 - but this verses aren’t enough to prove that Mary is immaculate of her conception. Mary,  herself, claimed that whether a person is holy or not, they need a Savior and that is our God and Jesus Christ, our Lord, not her.
These are some verses stated that there are only two Holy:
  1.   Mark 1:24
  2.   Acts 3:14
  3.   1 Peter 1:26
  4.   1 John 2:20
  5.   Revelation15:4
  • She is not Perpetual Virgin.
The doctrine of the Perpetual Divinity of Mary was published by the Council of Trent as a reaction to the opposite beliefs of the Protestants. The Church doesn’t want to be scolded at or dictated, wanting to be different even though it is not based on the Holy Bible or worse, against the Word of God.
Many people have their own opinion and beliefs ‘bout Mary’s sons and daughters or shall we call, Jesus Christ’ siblings in flesh. These are some of the debatable theories regarding Mary's perpetual virginity:
  •  Around the year 150, in their content, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ found in the bible were turned into stepbrothers and stepsisters from Joseph’s first wife (before Mary).
  • Saint Ambrose, the first respected and influential person, had a vision about  the perpetual divinity of Mary. He stated that Mary never had children after Jesus using a totally unrelated verse of Ezekiel 44:2.
  • Saint Jerome turned Jesus Christ's stepbrothers and stepsisters into cousins. He insisted that it will be Godless if we will think that Joseph had a first wife before Mary. He also rejected the suggestion in the book of James that Joseph is a widower because he stated that as the Father of the Lord, he should remain pure.
  • Peter Lombard's book, Four books of Sentences, stated that the brothers of Jesus Christ are the sons of Mary’s cousin.
However, in the present, the Roman Catholic Church said that the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ aren’t from Mary(Virgin) but from Mary’s sisters: Mary Cleophas and Mary Salom.
The Bible teaches about Mary’s Perpetual Virginity is alter from what the Catholic says.
  • She is not our Mediator.
Mary is definitely not the mediator between God and man because that title is for Jesus Christ.
Roman Catholic says that Mary is the way for us to know God, but in John 14:6, Jesus says I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. which means that what the Catholic says ’bout this issue is altered from what the Bible says. Praying to her for her to pray for us does not make sense either. Can't we pray directly to our Lord? Of course, yes. Hence, there are no reason of asking her to pray for us; in fact, she is resting in peace already. We are required to pray directly to God, and there’s no shortcut or other way to be close to the Father except through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
