Polla Shares: Mary, The Mother Of Jesus

disclaimer: this painting is not mine
When I was just a kid, I was fond of researching and finding answers to a lot of questions. In fact, I made my first blog on friendster (if you still can remember that website, I won't blame you if you don't) and there are bunch of articles in that blog about God, End of the world, love, etc. It is unfortunate that they are all gone now. Afterwards, I decided to make another blog which is named as "threebears.i.ph" with the help of my friend Emjozar. The blog was shut down, so my friend transferred all of my literary pieces in http://pgperez.blogspot.com; and one of my articles in that blog was a short clarification about Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. I wrote this article when I was in Junior High School, and published it on my old blog on September 22, 2011.

1 John 1:8-10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceiving ourselves and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all the unrighteousness. If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make Him a liar and His word isn’t in us.”
Getting to the point, Mary is not a God - she is just an instrument that God used to bring Jesus Christ into this world to be a mortal (Which means that Jesus isn’t a man, he became a man), but we must respect her - respect, not worship. She was just a sinner/imperfect person like you; she needs a Savior too. How come a God needs a Savior? Think about it. If you are not yet satisfied ‘bout what I say, these are some stuffs that I’ve researched:
  • She doesn’t have an Immaculate Conception.
How could she conceived without a sin if she needs a redemption herself? (Luke 1:47)

Many respected people had a vision ‘bout Mary’s Immaculate Conception. It includes Bridget of Sweden; however, many popes and nuns had a vision too about it being false, for instance, the Great Italian Mystics, Catherine of Siena. The Roman Catholic Church cited two verses to justify that this dogma is true: Genesis 3:15 and Luke 1:12 - but this verses aren’t enough to prove that Mary is immaculate of her conception. Mary,  herself, claimed that whether a person is holy or not, they need a Savior and that is our God and Jesus Christ, our Lord, not her.
These are some verses stated that there are only two Holy:
  1.   Mark 1:24
  2.   Acts 3:14
  3.   1 Peter 1:26
  4.   1 John 2:20
  5.   Revelation15:4
  • She is not Perpetual Virgin.
The doctrine of the Perpetual Divinity of Mary was published by the Council of Trent as a reaction to the opposite beliefs of the Protestants. The Church doesn’t want to be scolded at or dictated, wanting to be different even though it is not based on the Holy Bible or worse, against the Word of God.
Many people have their own opinion and beliefs ‘bout Mary’s sons and daughters or shall we call, Jesus Christ’ siblings in flesh. These are some of the debatable theories regarding Mary's perpetual virginity:
  •  Around the year 150, in their content, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ found in the bible were turned into stepbrothers and stepsisters from Joseph’s first wife (before Mary).
  • Saint Ambrose, the first respected and influential person, had a vision about  the perpetual divinity of Mary. He stated that Mary never had children after Jesus using a totally unrelated verse of Ezekiel 44:2.
  • Saint Jerome turned Jesus Christ's stepbrothers and stepsisters into cousins. He insisted that it will be Godless if we will think that Joseph had a first wife before Mary. He also rejected the suggestion in the book of James that Joseph is a widower because he stated that as the Father of the Lord, he should remain pure.
  • Peter Lombard's book, Four books of Sentences, stated that the brothers of Jesus Christ are the sons of Mary’s cousin.
However, in the present, the Roman Catholic Church said that the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ aren’t from Mary(Virgin) but from Mary’s sisters: Mary Cleophas and Mary Salom.
The Bible teaches about Mary’s Perpetual Virginity is alter from what the Catholic says.
  • She is not our Mediator.
Mary is definitely not the mediator between God and man because that title is for Jesus Christ.
Roman Catholic says that Mary is the way for us to know God, but in John 14:6, Jesus says I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. which means that what the Catholic says ’bout this issue is altered from what the Bible says. Praying to her for her to pray for us does not make sense either. Can't we pray directly to our Lord? Of course, yes. Hence, there are no reason of asking her to pray for us; in fact, she is resting in peace already. We are required to pray directly to God, and there’s no shortcut or other way to be close to the Father except through our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Polla Shares: #FerYhanWedding

Styled by yours truly

@mirasolgrace / @pgraceperez

As your maid-of-honor,

Regardless of my age, I will leave three great, not-so-common and factual reminders for your marriage today.

           1. A Great Marriage does not wholly depend on the wedding (how grand or simple it was); a great marriage depends on what you do each day. Because marriage is an everyday process – which means there will be up’s and down’s… for the Lord will not promise a flat, easy relationship. He promises that “I will never leave you, nor forsake… Trust me.”

            2. A Great Marriage is partially made by a community. Someone said that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Since they are two and soon will be three (or four and more), they will need a community that is composed of family, relatives and friends who will support them not only by financial, but also by all the aspects in life (i.e. emotional and spiritual)

            3. A Great Marriage is not a man-made invention; it is God who made it. He said, “Uniquely, I am going to choose one thing in life to show every human being most deeply what’s like for me to love my creation… and that’s marriage.”  He chose marriage to reflect who He is in a trinity, serving and loving one another. This will be a great reminder for the both of you when you are having tough times. Always remember that your marriage reflects God’s love for everyone. Unconditional love – for love is not a contract: it is not “do this and I’ll give you this.” Instead, It is a covenant that perfectly shows God’s unconditional love (I will not say perfect love because no one can ever do that, just “unconditional love”) It is like, “I love you right now; I give you grace right now. No matter what happens, I will always be here for you.”

So, when you are almost giving up, remember what God does – He never gives up. The bible shows His unfailing love – even when we rebel, He always do things to rebuild the relationship and to pursue us even more.

  • Like the Great flood. He did that to reboot everything for us. But we sinned again.
  • So what He did, He sent His only begotten Son to redeem us. But we spat on His face and killed Him.
  • But He pursued us again by leaving someone who will guide us (some say that it is called ‘conscience’, but for us it is called the Holy Spirit.)

He loves us so much that He never gives up… and marriage is the greatest way to apply that ‘love’ to someone, your only one. So, just remember the three reminders:

That Marriage is an everyday process That you guys are never alone ( we, as a community, is here for you) That this marriage is a reflection of God’s love.

I am very much grateful to be the matron of honor for my brother's wedding with his ex-girl friend yesterday (July 18, 2015) at the Rosalinda Garden. Despite of the fact that I never got the chance to finish my speech at the ceremony because of the unwanted happenings, I am happy that I have shared one of my simple, special memories with my brother. Thank God for this blog!!!

PS: I'll be posting the short video and photos that I took soon. :)

Dear Virtual Diary: Encountering My Enemy

I dreamt last night.

It was something that I did not expect, but honestly, did wait for it... for months. This dream is so bizarre that I guess no one will want to have this kind of dream. My dad and my mom had dreams like this, and it all really disturbed me. I mean, what will you do if you are locked in a dream, fighting with an eerie demon? Growing up as a child of a preacher, I have witnessed supernatural stuffs and I have heard unusual stories. Also, I heard my parents telling their frightful stories about how they experienced the presence of a demon.

According to my mom, she experienced seeing a shadow of a man's head laughing and moving with no one alive near it. Also, the most freaky experience that she had was when she encountered a devil in a dream. She said that the devil was not hideous, in fact, it was indescribably handsome wearing a corporate attire - so presentably good-looking, still she knew he was satan. The devil was smirking sarcastically, and at first, my mom got worried. It was walking around her, but never towards her. She realized that the reason why the devil was just walking around her was because it could not go near her. It could not do something - it was powerless. When she woke up, she realized that the reason why the devil was powerless was because she already surrendered her life to the most powerful God. She is secured. “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

Accordingly, my dad, a preacher, experienced frightful happenings. He has encountered an exorcism and, by the powerful name of Jesus Christ, helped the girl from the work of the demons. Also, he was threatened by an evil spirit, but my father was never moved. Moreover, he has challenged a/the demons to fight him because he knows, with all his heart, that he is more than conquerors by being a servant of the Heavenly Father. Then, he has experienced being strangled by a demon while sleeping, but graciously, the Lord helped him. His life is a compilation of God's work, particularly in fighting the enemy.

As a little girl, I always said to myself that I could never handle such things - like I could not imagine facing a loathesome demon. It is frightening. But as I grew up physically and spiritually, I realized that it is not a bad thing. As a matter of fact, it is an ace in the hole. It is a great way to show my faith and how much I believe the Lord's promise in Luke 10:19. After many years, it reoccurred in my mind (probably, it is because of watching too much horror film). so I asked the Lord if I am ready for it, and if my faith is now bigger to handle such things.

Thus, excuse me when I say this but... I am delighted for my dream last night! I know it sounds weird to be happy for a dream that is supposedly scary; however, I cannot contain my happiness knowing that I successfully made it. Right when I woke up, I was not even catching my breathe or feeling scared, but I was in my right mind saying, "Ma, nakipaglaban ako sa demonyo." (Mom, I fought with a devil.) As much as I can remember, the story went like this:

I was in my old school with a friend - I forgot who she is but I am sure she is close with me - and we were just wandering around. The ambiance was fine - not so stale, and not so vibrant. We dropped by at the PL Building (If you had been to a college week of SMCL, I guess, you'd know what I am talking about) and the ambiance gradually changed when we reached the room near the female washroom. The feeling became heavy and suddenly, a girl (as far as I can remember) came and tried to hurt me and my friend. I knew in that point that she's a devil. The devil was trying to hurt my friend, that was why I blocked it and shouted, "run!' My friend disappeared and I found myself fighting the devil. We were holding each other and strangling each other, but it surprised me that I never felt any pain. In fact, I could tell that the devil was the one who was suffering. The devil got a big stamp and marked me on the left side of my body and there I felt a great pain... The mark says, "Ecclesiastes 4". And my mom woke me up.

The dream is a blessing for me, if you'll ask me. I told my dad about it and he said that I am blessed and appointed. He added that if someone dreams about fighting with a demon and does not struggle, it means that the person is called by the Lord for a greater purpose. The Lord is great, and He's been guiding me since I was a kid - since I was that little girl who thought that this kind of things is unfavourable. But now, the fact that the devil has no hold on me because I admitted and accepted that I am a child of God, I believe it deserves a celebration.
PS: I wrote an another article about the Ecclesiastes 4, for I believe that God wanted me to know something, so check it out by clicking the bible passage link above.

Blogger's Intro: Trusting God's Plan

Psalms 139:14

Hey beautiful earthlings! I am Paula Grace Perez, but here, I am Mirasol Grace. I am so excited for this new phase of my life, and I thank the Lord for telling me what to do because I honestly do not know myself, at all. Knowing nothing about what I want is, I think, an advantage, for I can be more flexible and ready for the plans of the Lord. However, convincing myself to make a blog was not easy because, I know in myself, I am a lazy and indecisive person. Ergo, thanks to my Heavenly Father - He guides me through the way, and shows me HIS signs about when or where to stop/go.

I knew that this is one of His great plans. The realization happened when I started to read the Holy Bible seriously. I reread the passages that I've read wholeheartedly and heard Him stating my purpose. I asked the Lord to show me what I am created for - yes,  I know that it is to glorify Him, but by what means? In Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." it showed my life with Him at the moment. I love the Lord and He has called me for a purpose that I may not understand sometimes, but I believe and accept that everything that is happening in my life is for my own good.
